The Red Death had long devastated the country
No pestilence had ever been so hideous, or so fatal
Blood was its Avatar and its seal - the redness and horror of blood

The dreaded Red Death had reemerged
Stalked in the streets singing our dirge, spread by rats
Fever and pain, bodies marred with black, bloody stains

The prince Prospero, his dames and his knights
Seeking shelter from the red blight
Totally blind to their own fate they couldn’t know that they were too late

Blood was its Avatar and its seal - the redness and horror of blood

So far from life, royal convent
Iron walls and battlements
Seven rooms with food and wine, an ancient clock to keep the time

Life grew dull as months passed by until Prospero answered their cry
Then silence fell in the chamber of doom
No one dared enter the western most room

Then there appeared a figure in black
The revelers frozen dead in their tracks
Hidden from sight, the hooded man’s face
Behind a mask, death’s reincarnate

As he walked on through all seven rooms
The brave Prospero would not let him through
But then his life was ripped from his lungs

All fell silent
The Red Death had come

And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all
